With so many phenomenal sights in Paris, we forget sometimes about the simple things. Yes, the Louvre and Eiffel Tower and Palais Royale deliver amazing experiences, not to mention the café meal at Place Dauphine or the bateau ride along the Seine.
Of course, you know by now that I will tack a “but . .“ at the end, and so I shall. BUT nothing compares with lazy moments with a glass of wine watching the world go by. Better yet, gathering a Parisian pique-nique to enjoy an impromptu lunch by the river rises very quickly up the list of things to do.
An ancient bench by the legendary Shakespeare and Company bookstore mirrors those sentiments quite well. As you plan your magical Paris itinerary; please remember to build in some lovely moments to gather your wine, cheese, fresh baguette and fruit. Then find the ideal bench along the river to enjoy your repast and watch the barges pass and the people soak up the sun – Joie de Vivre, Paris style!
